Throughout my extensive reading while planning my trip to Bolivia, I was first fascinated, then completely captivated, by Potosi and its rich history. My focus quickly turned to this city with its legendary mines.
Grandeur nature
I press the shutter, imagining that instant when the image, traveling at three hundred thousand meters per second, crashes onto the receptive surface. Everything happens in that brief lapse of time as the film is bombarded with ions and photons, particles of energy. The impact is violent. A kind of big bang. A micro-temporality where blue, red, and yellow merge. Time stands still. Yet, a fraction of a second earlier, darkness reigned. Blackness was simply waiting to meet the light. From this collision emerged an image worth a thousand words.

The Mullick Ghat Flower Market, at the foot of the famous Howrah Bridge in Kolkata, is a vibrant and chaotic spectacle where garlands of bright flowers cover almost every inch of the ground. The yellow and orange hues of marigolds and marigold roses, destined for religious offerings and temples, dominate the landscape. Under the stifling heat, vendors bustle around bags overflowing with petals and pre-made garlands, while customers haggle animatedly.
